PRESS RELEASES For Release: June 7, 2002 For More Information Contact: Mark Nickson (203) 924-7000 Reference: PR20607106 DAC Systems – Speech Enabled IVR and VoiceXML Gains Popularity
Shelton, Connecticut, June 7, 2002 - DAC Systems is pleased to report its speech recognition enabled IVR has been gaining popularity and now accounts for 50% of IVR systems being produced. The company has been making IVR systems for over 10 years based on its SMC2000, SMC3000, and SMC4000 family of telecommunications grade platforms. The SMC4000's multiprocessor architecture has been found to be optimal for speech recognition. The systems are based on speech technology from IBM, Nuance, and SpeechWorks. Applications are developed in either VoiceXML or Intel CT-ADE. DAC Systems provides a complete solution using its 5 step implementation plan that spans from functional specification through installation, training, and one year maintenance plan. DAC Systems has found significant interest from both existing and new customers. In most cases the new speech enabled IVR is deployed along with a parallel web application and / or CTI screen pop. The cost for implementing the combination of Web and IVR is reduced by having two systems share hardware and software. Web and IVR applications communicate to back end data via a single data link. The company has implemented a standardized reusable Intel CT-Connect CTI screen pop component which can be built into any application written in VoiceXML. Intel CT-Connect is the most prevalent CTI server product worldwide. A call center can be enabled with CTI screen pop with under 2 weeks work using Intel CT-Connect, and IVR written in VoiceXML, and DAC Systems Screen pop component which bridges CT-Connect and VoiceXML. Examples of recent speech enabled IVR, Web, and CTI system deployments include Banco do Brasil, M.C. Fina, and Pfizer. Customers with the new systems have mainly justified their decision to go with the new "second generation" systems by the favorable ROI. They have also found parallel deployment of "self service" via the Web and Phone to be a major factor in the decision process. Multi language capability has also been more commonly implemented in the new systems with both IVR and Web supporting two and three languages such as English, French, and Spanish. DAC Systems designs, manufactures, and markets IVR, WEB, CTI and FAX systems and applications for commercial, municipal, and government organizations. The company, founded in 1988, has its headquarters in Shelton, Connecticut.
